Highlights of September 2015 Board of Director's, Alternate GAD and Chief Delegates Meetings in Lisbon, Portugal

Alternate GAD

  • The location of Florence, Italy for the 2018 GAD/World Congress was approved
  • Two new members were announced: Biomedical Society of Zambia; Croatian Chamber of Health Professionals – Professional Department of Medical Laboratory Activities
  • The Auditor's Report (2014) and the Financial Report were approved
  • Updates were given from the Board Committees and the Strategic Plan

Chief Delegates Meeting

  • Outline of the new election procedures was reviewed
  • Group discussions included: 2016-2018 WHO Collaboration Project, ISCO/ESCO Classification, Social Media and Communications, Recruiting New IFBLS Members, World Congress Guidelines, Advisory Groups, Membership Fee and Voting Structure and Poster Judging at World Congress
  • Presentation on the Joint Master Degree in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences (MARBLE)

BOD

  • The next Board meeting will be held in connection with the site visit to Florence. This saves travel costs for the Organizing Committee
  • A process and form will be developed for members who wish to have the Alternate GAD/Chief Delegates meeting in their country
  • An update on the World Congress in Kobe, Japan was received and the BOD suggested program changes
